1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern all services, installations, and related activities carried out by STP Solar, a registered solar and electrical installation company operating in South Africa. By engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Services Provided

  • We provide solar and electrical installation services, including supply and installation of solar panels, inverters, batteries, and related electrical components.
  • We are registered installers of Sunsynk, Sigenstor, and Tesla Powerwall 3 systems.
  • All installations are overseen by our registered Master Installation Electrician (MIE), licensed with the Department of Labour (DOL), who is authorised to issue Certificates of Compliance (COC).

3. Quotation, Invoicing & Payments

  • All quotations are valid for 14 days unless otherwise stated.
  • A non-refundable 80% deposit is required upfront before procurement of equipment or commencement of work.
  • The remaining 20% balance must be settled on the last day of installation.
  • The COC will be issued within 1–2 weeks after installation.
  • Failure to make final payment within 7 days of installation will result in disconnection of the solar system until full settlement is made.
  • STP Solar reserves the right to withhold warranties, support, or certification documents until all outstanding balances are cleared.

4. Products & Warranties

  • We only use Tier 1 solar panels from JA Solar and Canadian Solar, procured through authorised distributors in South Africa.
  • Inverters and batteries are sourced exclusively from official suppliers or appointed distributors.
  • Customers may request specific brands, subject to availability and system compatibility.
  • Standard manufacturer warranty periods typically include:
    • Inverters & Batteries: 10 years
    • Solar Panels: 12 years (manufacturer's product warranty)
    • Tesla Powerwall 3: 10 years
  • All warranties are subject to manufacturer terms, correct system usage, and adherence to recommended maintenance practices.

5. Installation Standards & Compliance

  • All installations are carried out using quality components and in compliance with South African electrical standards.
  • We do not compromise on quality by reducing pricing at the expense of safety or compliance.
  • Earthing systems are installed with all solar panel installations, as required for lightning and surge protection.
  • Installations are carried out in compliance with Estate rules (e.g., Midstream Estate in Centurion, where we are a registered installer).

6. After-Sales Support

  • Customers are added to a dedicated WhatsApp support group after installation for technical queries and ongoing assistance.
  • Support is provided during business hours, unless otherwise agreed.

7. Referral Program

STP Solar offers a referral program to reward customers who refer friends, colleagues, and family members for solar installations. The referral program is subject to the following terms:

Referral Fee Structure

Referral fees are paid based on the total value of the solar system installation:

  • R30,000 - R80,000: R500 referral fee
  • R80,001 - R150,000: R1,000 referral fee
  • R150,001 - R250,000: R1,500 referral fee
  • R250,001 - R500,000: R2,500 referral fee
  • Above R500,000: R5,000 referral fee

Program Terms & Conditions

  • Eligibility: Referral fees are only paid for successful installations where the referred customer mentions the referrer's name during the initial consultation.
  • Payment Timeline: Referral fees are processed within 30 days of the solar system installation completion and final inspection.
  • One Referral Per Customer: Each referred customer can only be claimed by one referrer. In case of disputes, the first person to submit the referral will be credited.
  • Installation Completion Required: Referral fees are only paid after the solar system is fully installed, commissioned, and the final payment has been received from the customer.
  • System Value: The referral fee is calculated based on the total contract value of the solar system installation, including all components, installation, and services.
  • Payment Method: Referral fees will be paid via electronic transfer to the referrer's nominated bank account.
  • Tax Implications: Referral fees may be subject to income tax. Referrers are responsible for declaring these amounts to SARS if required.
  • Program Changes: STP Solar reserves the right to modify or discontinue the referral program at any time with 30 days' notice.
  • Exclusions: Referral fees are not applicable for:
    • Existing customers upgrading their systems
    • Commercial installations over R1,000,000
    • Installations where the referrer is a STP Solar employee or contractor
    • Installations that are cancelled or not completed

How to Participate

  • Submit your referral through our official referral form on the website
  • Ensure the referred person mentions your name during their initial consultation
  • Referral fees will be automatically processed upon successful installation completion

8. Exclusions & Limitations

  • We are not an online store.
  • We do not compete with online store pricing, as we operate exclusively through official distribution channels with set supplier prices. Discounts may be offered at our discretion but are not guaranteed.
  • We do not accept liability for:
    • System downtime caused by load shedding, grid instability, or customer negligence.
    • Damage resulting from acts of God (e.g., lightning, floods, storms) unless covered by manufacturer warranty.
    • Interference, modifications, or repairs carried out by unauthorised third parties.

9. Data Protection

  • We respect customer privacy and do not sell, share, or disclose personal information submitted via our website or communication channels to any third-party platforms.
  • All information collected is used solely for the purpose of quotations, billing, installation, and support.

Note: For clarity, STP Solar does not operate an e-commerce platform and does not profile users for marketing with third parties.

10. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
